A fantastic weekend
December 19, 2017 Thank you to the wonderful staff of Craig y Nos for a fantastic weekend. We got married at the castle a year ago and were returning for our anniversary (this time with our puppy in tow!). Despite the weather we had a warm welcome and a lovely relaxing time. Food, hospitality, and location were amazing as always. Special thanks to Cath and Emily who really spoiled us! See you next year
Our Wedding day was different and perfect for us
We absolutely fell in love with the Castle when we were looking for a wedding venue. Great location, it is beautiful, quirky, has stunning views and the icing on the cake for us was it being dog friendly so our labradoodle could join us on our big day! It’s not your average venue that has been built for the sole purpose of being hired for weddings, it has an amazing back story which was great to tell guest and made us happy to know that our money was helping restore a bit of Welsh history. The theatre we got married in was stunning and there was a lovely touch when the registrar gave a brief history of opera singer that owned the castle (and now said to haunt it!).
We loved that there was a different room for every part of the wedding so no waiting about for rooms to be done up. The conservatory where we had our wedding breakfast was beautiful with all the lights hanging and glow up tress and you couldn’t beat the views from the window. Drink and canapés were served in the reception room, there was a bar and lounge area and then a separate room for the evening do which also had a lot of quirky features. The staff were absolutely awesome and couldn’t be more dog friendly (they even looked after our dog when we had breakfast and gave her the odd sausage!). Rachel our wedding coordinator was amazing even though I was quite the bossy bride! She helped so much the months leading up to the wedding (I had so many questions and requests), the day before with the decorating and during the day with all sorts of random things that needed doing!
The food was great and some guests had awkward dietary requirement but the venue was more than happy to oblige. The nice bit as well was each guest got to pick between two options for each course, not a lot of venues we looked at did that. There are stunning parks/woods/ponds around the venue that we took some great pictures by with the dog on our wedding(and took her there for a walk), also some lovely pubs in the area. Overall it was the perfect day, we couldn’t be happier with it. It really did have it all! Thank you very much for everything.

Guests said it was "magical"
November 26, 2017 Son was married there yesterday. Had a great time, some guests said it was "magical". Such a lovely building with rustic charm. There were a couple of hiccups along the way mainly due to wedding planners leaving and having to get acquainted with a new person each time. But for all that and a little confusion over the childrens menu, nothing could detract from the excellent wedding and beautiful setting. May i make a couple of suggestions - chair in the disabled room 12 should be a priority and log fires lit in lounges would have been good as older guests were cold during welcome drinks. Oh and more twin rooms would be good as some guests could not share a double room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food good especially evening buffet. Disco excellent - DJ Pure. Thank you Sarah for taking over at the last minute. Maintenance men were there in minutes when we pointed out there was a problem with shower and fixed it right away. Well done to the whole team. Forgot to mention this was a last minute deal, so was value for money too.
The perfect day
November 21, 2017 We had our wedding at the castle on the 3/11/2017 and it was the perfect day. The venue is in a stunning location, quirky, has a great history and the icing on the cake was it was extremely dog friendly meaning our labradoodle could be there with us on our big day! I think she thought it was her wedding! The staff were superb! My wedding coordinator was amazing with all random demands I had and the food was outstanding (the fact guests had a selection was great). And everyone at the venue couldn’t be more accommodating to some of the things I wanted. Everyone had the best day and it couldn’t have gone any better! Thank you so much for everything xxx
Everyone was blown away by the Venue
November 11, 2017 We had our wedding at Craig Y nos a couple of weeks ago and it was absolutely amazing!? Everyone was blown away by the Venue with the majority of our guests staying the night before and night of the wedding! Loved every minute thanks to the staff for truly making it the best day of my life.
A fantastic service
November 6, 2017. We cannot begin to thank all at Craig y Nos who played a part in our wedding on October 29th 2017 enough. Booking the venue at last minute and at one of the castle's most busiest times (Halloween) posed no issues at all to the very accommodating staff. As the bride, I was helped from the start of my last minute preparations, by Bianca (wedding planner) who was most helpful and always at hand to answer any questions I had. The Castle staff were more than happy to cater to our specific brief and nothing was too much trouble. A number of our guests stayed before our wedding and the feedback we got from them was brilliant with particular emphasis on the delicious breakfast !!
On the day of our wedding (even though it was chaotic due to the large amount of small children in my bridal party and me running late) our ceremony was beautiful. All our guests were impressed by both the Castle's beauty and history and all were well looked after by the Castles staff. We have had numerous compliments with regards to the quality of the wedding breakfast, the evening buffet (which we booked in conjunction with the Pure Weddings Dj's package which was also fantastic!), the bar staff service and the rooms. Everything including the helpfulness of the cleaning and maintenance staff was noticed and appreciated. So, thank you all so very much for providing us with such a fantastic service, allowing us to involve our gorgeous boy Rex, enabling me to marry my best friend in the such beautiful surroundings (which hold significant personal links to the past as my late gran once nursed here) and for giving all the little one's in our family beautiful memories that will last a lifetime xxxx
Wedding venue
We stayed here for a wedding recently. It was the perfect setting and the day was amazing and all the staff were very efficient. Our room was comfortable and the breakfast was plentiful. I would recommend this venue.

Wedding Venue
What can I say..... Thank you just doesn’t seem enough! We celebrated our wedding at the Castle and from the start our wedding planner Bianca was more than helpful, guiding us and answering all our questions. The day of the wedding ran smoothly despite the snow and non attendance of some guests. However this added to the magic of the day & again big thanks to the staff who were more than accommodating, changing rooms for our guests who had mobility issues and kitchen staff for the choice of menu for those with special dietary needs.
We stayed in the bridal suite and It was perfect. I particularly liked the full size mugs & Welsh tea!
Food was plentiful and top quality and I have received compliments from the guests which I hope will be passed to the chef who I had a brief conversation with in the evening. I would also like to thank Rachel who took over when Bianca left for looking after family who became stranded the following day due to car troubles. I am reliably informed that whilst waiting for recovery they were entertained and very well looked after. Final thanks to Cathy who made it possible for our guests from Ireland to have a mini tour of the Castle and brief history of Adelina Patti. This was greatly received as a friend of theirs who is a teacher is currently teaching her class about the castle.
The Castle was the perfect venue for our wedding and suited us, due to its character, history and stunning location. As I said, thank you just doesn’t seem enough and the staff are a credit to the venue. They were courteous, polite and nothing was too much trouble. We will return, next time with our dogs!

Family wedding
I stayed here for a family wedding and it was just perfect. The castle is very quirky and just amazing. It has so much character! The staff were so attentive all weekend, and made the bride & groom’s day go so smoothly. The food was great, and we loved the bar cat, and all the dogs that were around. Such a great relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely recommend. We will be coming back for a more chilled weekend soon.

Update:- I was going to give Very Good but after writing this review I upgraded to Excellent as overall it was and the bits that were not made it what it is quirky, quaint and old. My goddaughter decided to have her wedding here and it is a great setting for a wedding in the conservatory with stunning views. The hotel is fascinating and the rooms well done in the recent refurbishment. We were in room 26 which was at the rear of the side wing so no road noise and a large bedroom with very large en suite.
While the rooms are well appointed clean and modern the general hotel is a bit frayed. We took a short cut down to the court yard and the hall carpet was tired. The hotel is being upgraded and it takes time and probably a lot of money. But this is the character of the place its not a Travel Lodge, this is lived in place with rooms that have odd corners and quirky aspects such as stairs to en suites. It is a very dog friendly place and the staff had taken in a very cute well looked after stray dog that just wandered in to the grounds and they were ringing round everywhere to find the owners. When we were there there must have been 10 dogs of various sizes and in the bar there are dog beds so your pal is comfy. My problem is that I had to stroke them all every time I went for a beer. The owner of the hotel is clearly the cat that roams the public rooms completely ignoring the dogs who all seemed to know it was the cat's castle and there was no fuss. Now the staff were really excellent; efficient, kind, helpful and very easy to deal with. The food in the restaurant was good but not exceptional but big portions and very well received by our 26 for dinner on the Thursday.
The location is great for walking and the Dan yr Ogof, located at the National Showcaves Centre for Wales is a short walk up the road and well worth a visit (I will do a separate review for these). Check out the hotel web site it is really accurate and shows the rooms as they are some more cramped than others but its the honesty that attracted me. So excellent staff great hotel and the wedding package is excellent. All round a great place to base yourself.

Fantastic venue
Stayed for 2 nights to celebrate my brother's wedding. Stunning location with spectacular views. The rooms are a bit dated but this adds to the charm of the castle. The conservatory where the wedding breakfast was served was a spectacular room with fantastic views. The staff were fantastic and a special mention to the late night barmaid that kept the bar open for our arrival on Thurs night, Great character and an ambassador for Craig y nos as she entertained us with the history of the castle and it's spooky visitors. Love the dog friendly nature of the hotel and will be booking to return with my canine companion asap.

Wedding day
Just got back from Craig y nos...where we celebrated our daughter's wedding. The wedding consisted of only 8 of us including 2 very small children . Kayleigh and Ceri got married in a charming little room just off a large comfortable lounge...from start to finish it was stressfree and enjoyable. The gentleman that married them was wonderful...both Kayleigh and Ceri and myself and my husband stayed the night...us in theatre room left which opened out onto the beautiful gardens and the other 2 in the loft room. Extra excitment when the fire alarm went off at 3 in the morning . We had a section of the restaraunt cordoned off just for us..we all had different meals...with us ladies having rump of lamb which was out of this world...also breakfast this morning was outstanding. The lady behind the bar, who also helps out at breakfast was particularly friendly and helpful also the South African lady was brilliant. The whole thing topped off by the gorgeous resident cat 🤗 Thank you for a fantastic experience...we will visit again for sure...with our dogs.

Had the most amazing wedding at Craig y nos
I had my wedding here on the 9th of September and I must say we could not of had better service and that was from our wedding planner to anyone on reception to all the waitresses waiters and bar staff nothing was to much trouble our day run smoothly and that was because of the staff. The grounds and the castle are amazing too our guests were also impressed with the venue. From when we booked to our wedding day a lot of work has been carried out and this has drastically improved the appearance inside overall we could not recommend Craig y nos any highly to have as your wedding venue . Also to recommend Carly our wedding planner who helped us greatly and was simply amazing

Wedding venue
I had booked an early check in so was able to freshen up after journeying from London. A lovely large room with an adapted shower for my disabled daughter. The Wedding in the theatre was magical and we were so lucky to be in the beautifully kept garden area for drinks in the hot sunshine. My dog was able to come with me and stayed in my room for the meal but enjoyed the evening entertainment in the breakfast room. The meal was in the conservatory overlooking the countryside which we walked around the next morning after a very substantial buffet breakfast. The bed was comfortable with plenty of coffee and tea

Our amazing wedding
August 11, 2017 Had our amazing wedding at Craig y Nos on Saturday. Thanks so much to all the staff that work extremely hard. The food was amazing. The building is beautiful and Rachel (and other lady sorry can't remember her name) our wedding planner were fantastic. Definitely our dream wedding. All the guests commented on how special our day was Thank u everyone x
Everyone commented on how lovely the place is and peaceful setting
August 5, 2017 Thank you to all the staff working on the day of my wedding. We had a fabulous time everyone commented on how lovely the place is and peaceful setting. Lucky you are a dog friendly place so my sister was able to bring her dog with us. Carly and the rest of staff helped made the day go without a hitch and the food was lovely. Sharon was really helpful on the night before the wedding when we found out about a last minute allergy for one of the guests. Would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a night away or a wedding venue. All staff were very helpful from maintenance to restaurant to reception. Thank you again. I urge all to visit even if it's just for a cup of tea in passing.
Beautiful setting and castle
August 3, 2017 The most fabulous place to have a wedding, beautiful setting and castle, fantastic staff and service, 1st class food. Rachel out wedding planner did a fantastic job, making special memories. Would highly recommend this Castle for a wedding or to stay.
Amazing wedding venue
We have just returned from a 2 night stay for our granddaughter's wedding. Even though we had rain all day so were unable to totally utilise the amazing outdoor areas, there is ample room indoors with comfortable lounges so all the guests still had a thoroughly enjoyable day. We have visited the castle on days when the weather was bright and to be honest the outside areas and gardens with the amazing views all around would be hard to beat. Our room was comfortable enough and the bathroom was modern and nicely refurbished. Bedroom furniture was old and solid, in keeping with the castle. All the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and helped to make the day feel really special. The only criticism I could say is the prices charged at the bar. To be expected in a wedding venue I suppose, but the prices do somehow make you feel you are being exploited as you are a captive audience in a way. So apart from this I would highly recommend the castle for a wedding or any special occassion people may want to make memorable.

Manager Adds: Bar prices are published here and are in fact in line with other local pubs, so they are not set at a premium. Other guests have commented the prices are reasonable for a hotel.
Wedding
Attended a wedding here on 25th may fantastic setting.grounds were lovely, food at reseption was excellent, there is no restaurant at this hotel only bed and breakfast, lots of walks available and its dog friendly, so if you want to take your dog you can.
Manager adds: There is a restaurant (the Patti Bar and main function room become the dining room when there's no wedding on, but a wedding guest would not know this) and indeed, here is our Bar Meals Menu.
Evening meals are not served during a wedding function - just the Evening Wedding Buffet.
Wedding

Staff were outstanding
February 17, 2017 My daughter got married at this stunning venue yesterday 16/2/17 , from start to finish the staff were outstanding so helpful in every way, catering all special dietary needs, and going above and beyond their dutie, as I have a severely disabled son, I arrived at the wedding and realised I had forgotten his nappies, but thankfully one of the male members of staff went to the nearest supermarket to buy some for me, unfortunately I didn't get his name, but I am so grateful to him, I would definitely recommend this wonderful venue, especially if you are a dog lover
Wedding was fabulous
January 23, 2017 Staff very helpful & polite. Everyone so friendly too. Wedding was fabulous...used theatre for ceremony...perfect. X Wedding breakfast was delicious and setting was beautiful. Room (14) was quite small and cold but alright for a night. Daughters room was lovely though...large & very warm. Would recommend to everyone. Thanks for a brilliant weekend.

We were lucky enough to hold our recent (December 29th 2016) at this magnificent venue. Carly, our wedding coordinator was fantastic in ensuring that our requirements were met and that all guests including ourselves had a great day. She was always available to discuss our needs with and delivered an exceptional experience for us all. The Castle itself is steeped with so much history and our guests particularly enjoyed the tour of the castle on the morning of the wedding.

“Very interesting venue...”

Craig-y-Nos Castle is a grade 1 listed example of 1840's neo gothic architecture which is undergoing [In parts] constant renovation/repair, but don't let that put you off. This place is dripping with sometimes spooky but always interesting history and in a Beautiful location Craig-y-Nos has a great story to tell, and no one should miss the history tour given by a lady who is obviously passionate about her subject. Our en suite room was quite small but comfortable enough for a few days, although if we visit again (And I hope we do) I would book a larger room. The lounge and bar with large wood burners and plush leather sofas & chairs are the perfect place to relax with a bottle of wine or a large malt.
On the food front... the menu was quite small which was a good sign, the food was very good. Breakfast for us was full English. (Although given the location the term 'full English' may raise a Welsh eyebrow) and dinner was always good. My last word is for the staff who although were few in numbers were attentive and helpful particularly the manageress. Craig-y-Nos Castle may not have the frills of the Hilton Park Lane, but it has so much more to offer, yes it's a little tired in places but for me and my wife the history of the place more than compensated for that. There is absolutely no question I would recommend Craig-y-Nos castle to anyone considering a wedding venue or a short break away from it all in a beautiful location.
