Dog Friendly Wedding Venue, Craig y Nos Castle in South Wales, weddings with dogs
A dog magazine researching wedding couples who had got married with their dogs present asked to hear from some of our past brides. We heard from many brides who had their dog present in their wedding photographs or active at their wedding. Here are their stories:

I wanted to get married with my dog Dougal playing a key role in my wedding to my new husband, Dan.
Dougal is a Bassett x mastiff, which as you can see is an extremely unusual combination! We found him through a local Bath based charity called Dog's Friends.
Long story short, I wanted a big dog and my husband wanted a smaller dog. We never thought we were going to agree until we miraculously found Dougal, a big small dog!
I got married at Craig y Nos castle on 03/08/2013 having seen a mention of them on Facebook.

Long story short, I wanted a big dog and my husband wanted a smaller dog. We never thought we were going to agree until we miraculously found Dougal, a big small dog!
Dougal is the loveliest dog with a huge personality and even bigger heart. Unfortunately he is also quite slobbery, a bit smelly and he constantly moults. This was cause for concern on the wedding day!
So all my guests made sure they had tissues on hand just in case Dougal decided to create that infamous scene from the film 'Beethoven' where the giant St. Bernard shakes his head and saliva goes EVERYWHERE.
Fortunately, we avoided any dog related disasters on the day and managed to keep our wedding attire spotless (aside from a few cheeky champagne stains!)
We chose Craig y Nos Castle for our wedding because Dougal is a part of our family. We couldn't imagine having our wedding without him!
One of the deciding factors in choosing Craig Y Nos was the fact that it was dog friendly. We stayed at the castle on several occasions before the wedding and the staff always made a fuss over him which was lovely! it is so nice to visit somewhere where dogs are welcome.
We were fortunate on the day of our wedding as many of our friends took turns in looking after Dougal and taking him on mini-walks through the lush grounds of the castle and Country Park, keeping him fully occupied.

"Henri is a 6yr old French Bulldog which we have had from 10 weeks old. He is a very important member of our family so it was essential that he was at our wedding in some way.
Also, on a practical note, we needed to have a venue that dogs were able to stay in as all our friends and family were attending our wedding, some of whom also have dogs, and we didn't want to put him in kennels.
When we were looking for dog friendly wedding venues, we wanted Henri to be part of the ceremony which not all supposed dog friendly wedding venues would allow. As soon as we visited Craig y Nos we knew it was the right place for us and Henri seemed keen too as we had him with us when we viewed the castle.
Henri was the ring bearer at our wedding and escorted Gareth and his best men down the aisle to the "Rocky" theme tune played by the string quartet. He looked really smart with his bow tie collar on which held the bag containing the wedding rigs.

The registrar was lovely and thought it was rather amusing!
The grounds and countryside around Craig y Nos make it ideal as we were able to enjoy lovely walks after the wedding.
We had a few other guests who also brought their pet dogs and although we did not allow any other dogs actually into the wedding, our dog loving guests found it so much less stressful having their pets nearby in a safe place and to be able to nip out for a walk with them between the wedding breakfast and evening reception.
We loved every bit of our wedding day at Craig y Nos Castle which was made all the better as we could have our best buddy Henri with us in a safe, welcoming and beautiful venue. We would highly recommend Craig Y Nos for anyone but especially those looking for a dog friendly wedding."

Dylan and I were married on the 4th September 2010. We had the most wonderful day at Craig Y Nos, we couldn't fault their dedications to making our day so special and attending to all our needs.
Our beautiful dog Mya was also apart of our day and she loved the castle. She had so much fun running about and getting loves from all the staff.
Craig Y Nos is one of the most beautiful locations for a wedding, it was our first and only choice especially because they cater for animals. We couldn't have wished for a better day filled with sunshine and happiness.
Many thanks
Justine and Dylan Williams

Hi,
When we got married here 15/5/10, my uncle's dog (Flash, who has since passed away) was staying. He wasn't around for the ceremony but was in the grounds afterwards.
Thanks, Nerys

"Hi, whilst our rottie Roxy wasn’t in attendance at the wedding (due to her being quite excitable and people not liking drool – which she has a lot of!); we have 2 photos of her in the theatre from our pre-wedding shoot (2 days before the wedding), and one pic attached has her photo shopped in as we wanted to have a photo of her for our album as she’s our little baby.
We would have loved her to be there but not all people attending our wedding are good with big dogs so our 6 ½ stone furry baby couldn’t attend the actual day.
Kind regards, Heather Rees"
