Ceremony Only Weddings at Craig y Nos Castle
Our Summer House in the Lower Gardens at Craig y Nos Castle is available for a Wedding Ceremony wedding on weekdays and weekends.
The original century old Summer House dating back to Adelina Patti has been restored by volunteers giving their own time free of charge - thanks to them and to Craig y Nos Country Park for their invaluable work. It was clearly to a high standard as a tree fell on it in Storm Darragh and it has survived.
The Summer House, having long lain derelict and out of use, now has its own wedding licence.
The summer house dates back to 1880 so it is historically important. It is small and can only seat the Bridal Couple and the Registrar. Your guests will be assembled on chairs in the garden area in front of the Summer House .
1. Wedding Ceremonies - Tariff
Wedding Ceremonies outside, Lower Gardens - Tariff
When - Weekdays Sunday to Thursday (and 'last minute' Weekends only if we have no other wedding booked):
Where and at what Tariff - Summer House for small intimate weddings up to 40 guests - £950 (2026).
You have access to the 'Summer House', 'Craig y Nos Country Park - A Photoography fee applies' and the 'Castle's Lower Gardens'.
Options inside include:
1. The Opera House: for larger wedding ceremonies - £798.75 Sun-Thurs only (2026).
2. The Breakfast Room - £550 Sun-Thurs only (2026). This is for smaller weddings. We move all the settees out, replacing with Cheltenham Gilt or Chiavari Chairs, Tables etc for Registrar. We then move everything back in again. This requires extra staffing to move furniture in and out. The Breakfast Room is popular for smaller 'Ceremony Only' weddings and is a back-up if the weather is too wet to use the Summer House.
3. The Conservatory - £1,042.50 (2026) for Ceremony Only Sun - Thurs. Subject to availability, you can hire the Conservatory for a Ceremony midweek - see Conservatory as Ceremony Room here. Suitable for larger weddings.
Weekends at short notice may occasionally be available, provided no other wedding is booked.
2. Wedding Photography
You have full access for Wedding Photography in the lower gardens, all of Craig y Nos Country Park which is open to the public, and to the Summer House. Note the separate charge for Photography in the Country Park - read more.
Access to the Upper Gardens at Craig y Nos, the Courtyard or the Main Castle will also be available unless there is a wedding booked in the main building. Any wedding in the main castle has sole use of the Castle's ground floor function rooms, courtyard and front and rear car parks.
Subject to availability, access to the Castle and Upper Gardens for further Wedding Photographs may be arranged at no charge.
3. Access and Parking
Carriages and Guests Cars please only park in Craig y Nos Country Park's Car Park (unless Castle car park is available). From the Country Park's Pay & Display car park you and your guests have level (wheelchair friendly) access to the Castle's Lower Gardens either via the Country Park steel gates (short route, if open) or you can walk through to the Boating Lake and circle around to the Lower Gardens along the gravelled paths (the more scenic route).
Arrange with the Country Park if you require the steel gates open for your guests to walk straight through. This wider entrance also offers access to the lower gardens for the Bridal Carriage only (not for guests cars) which you may arrange with the Country Park direct. No access to main Castle. Car Parking spaces may be reserved for your Wedding Party by direct arrangement with Craig y Nos Country Park.
4. Welcome Drinks
Welcome Drinks at £9.35 (2026) per guest served outside in the gardens if weather permits. Alternative arrangements for indoor service can be made on the day if weather poor, subject to availability.

5. Staying for Evening Meals & Overnight
Afternoon Teas option. Add an afternoon tea and evening buffet package to your wedding ceremony in the garden, with tea in the Conservatory.
Or book an evening buffet in Function Room with your own DJ.
Following Prince Charles's visit and his requirement we have hundreds of cake stands (a charity event where everyone had their own cake stand!), we are now well equipped to provide a tea and evening buffet option. See our Tea & Buffet wedding.
You could have your wedding ceremony, then invite 40 guests for an afternoon tea and an evening buffet afterwards. Available weekdays and on last minute dates.
6. Dinner & B&B Option
Dinner B&B Option: Accommodation for guests available in the castle. Book your en suite rooms in plenty of time. You and your guests can stay for B&B at £150 per room B&B. You can book a £35 per person three course evening meal (when we are serving evening meals). You will be served alongside other B&B guests, sat together at your own party table. Meal service on a Ceremony Only Wedding is at evening meal serving times only.
This option is not like a 'wedding banquet' which is served around 3.30 to 4.00 pm in the afternoon. If you are looking for a full wedding package, see Wedding Package Selector here.
7. Booking the Registrar - Wedding Ceremony timing
At weekends the registrar will most likely be booked for a wedding at the castle, and they may have other venues to go to before or after us. If you are making a 'late booking' they will want to fit you in before or after their already booked ceremonies that day.
Fitting in with the times the registrar has available for your ceremony means you may not get your preferred wedding ceremony time. Also, they won't marry you much after 3 pm which will give you a gap between Ceremony and any evening meal booking.
Bookings for Ceremony Only Weddings are not exclusive for the whole day, just for the timed duration - the 'booked period' - of your wedding.
We may accept more than one Ceremony Only Wedding at different times on the same day, if we have other ceremony only bookings, but we prefer not to hold a wedding ceremony alongside anyone else's full wedding package.
With a 'Ceremony Only Wedding' in the daytime, if you are not having a traditional wedding package, you may like to fill your afternoon with some other activities.
Activities could include: Wedding Photography (2 hrs), Welcome Drinks after the Ceremony (1 hr), maybe with Canapes, a walk around the Country Park (1 hr) or a drive somewhere.
If you are staying overnight, you'll have a 4 - 5 hour gap before the evening meal. As you are looking at a Ceremony Only Wedding, you will be saving money on a traditional Wedding Banquet and Evening party. So you could go touring with a few friends and relatives instead.
Maybe book a tour of the local Show Caves, or plan a road trip to an attraction (see selection of attractions starting here).
There are many touring activities that could be inserted into the afternoon.
Or stay at the castle for the day and upgrade to our Tea & Buffet option. This is an inexpensive solution without being a full wedding package.
